Jerome Berglund

Bindle Bum Haikus

leave place cleaner

than found it, self-service car

wash Quick Splash ‘n Dash

the right exit lanes

keep terminating when I

do not take them

suburbs thumbing through

pulp fiction trounces true crime

in asphalt jungle

Jerome Berglund graduated from USC’s Cinema-Television Production program and spent a picaresque decade in the entertainment industry before returning to the midwest where he was born and raised.  He has previously published haikus in Abstract Magazine, Barstow and Grand, Closed Eye Open, Equinox, Lychee Rind, Moonstone Press, Mycelium, a Quillkeepers anthology, Raw Art Review, Snapdragon, and the Write Launch. These selections are taken from a cycle of poetry attempting to relate a memoir via haiku, tracing a personal journal from a small town in the midwest through the sordid inner sanctums of Hollywood, and back again broken and disgraced.
